Where to dine > Establishments > Canada > Quebec > Montreal
If you're looking for the hip ambiance of Montreal's Boulevard St-Laurent restaurants, the Globe is certainly a place you'll enjoying frequenting. Open for dinner only, it becomes decidely less formal around 11 p.m. when it pulsates with music, dancing, energy and fun.
The decor is decidedly urban chic with high ceilings that provide a touch of elegance and create an open, airy space, even though the restaurant can accommodate 180 people. Black and sand-colored marble walls, a line of mirrored columns, white tablecloths and courteous service: the place certainly does not lack charm.
When it comes to the food, the seafood platters are very popular. The classics are given some pleasing twists: Parmesan fondues hide some Gruyere, macaroni and cheese is generously studded with lobster, and the cheesecake with coconut and maple syrup has come a long way from New York . The ingredients are fresh and most often organic.
This is not a grand restaurant, but a good restaurant: one of those you can head to a more regular basis.
