Staying at Al Sorriso, you are certain to have an unforgettable holiday. The calm, peaceful rooms open out onto the green hills surrounding Lake Orta. In the restaurant, the chef proposes true Piedmont cuisine: rabbit with Alba truffles and beef tenderloin with red Piedmont wine. As for the wine cellar, enjoy the selection of excellent regional wines, such as the sublime Barbaresco.
Born in Soriso (province of Novare) on December 20, 1950, Luisa obtained an arts degree before becoming involved in the restaurant business, helping her husband Angelo Valazza to run Al Sorriso. She was self-taught in the kitchen, studying recipes and books, and her natural talent soon became apparent. She won the Grand Prix dell'Academie Internationale de Gastronomie, while Michelin awarded her restaurant three stars.
“I serve dishes linked to the local tradition in their preparation, conception and products. I love to hike in the mountains, and there are many ingredients from the mountains in my kitchen: toma cheeses from the Ossola valley, Alpine cheeses, prosciutto ham and bacon from Val Vigezzo. There are even mountain herbs, like thyme, wild sage and spinach, as well as flowers such as violets, which I use in making sorbets.”
This is cuisine that is at once Piedmontese, Mediterranean, international and creative.
