Used in an infusion, bay leaf offers calming, antistress and analgesic qualities. It stimulates digestion thaks to its impressive quantity of potassium and provides no calories, carbohydrates or fat. Rich in various vitamins (including vitamin B3 which contributes to the proper development of genetic material and growth, vitamin B6 which maintains a healthy immune system, and vitamin C for energy), bay leaf also contains numerous minerals and trace elements essential to the body: calcium for proper bone and tooth development, magnesium for vitality, and phosphorus for tissue regeneration.
Bay leaves should be consumed in small quantities; in fact, in excess, they are poisonous, but don't panic! For an infusion, macerate about 15 g bay leaves in 1 liter water. Drink 2-3 cups a day after meals to promote digestion and reduce flatulence.
