Beer and health
Health and beer, a natural beverage

Brewed from grain, beer, a drink low in calories, can be part of a good balanced diet when consumed in moderation.

Beer, carbohydrates, protein and B vitamins
The grains that are used to make beer, mainly barley, provide raw material that is rich in slowly-absorbed sugars that gradually release their energy to the body, and in protein in the form of amino acids. Barley and malt are also an important source of vitamins, particularly B vitamins that play a role in the metabolizing of calories and in healthy skin. What's more, beer is the only beverage that provides such a quantity of B vitamins.

Minerals
Another major element in beer's composition is water, which provides a quota of minerals (potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and calcium) in the amount of 1200 mg /liter.

Beer and weight
Contrary to the popular belief that it causes weight gain, beer is actually low in alcohol and contains no saccharose (table sugar). Drunk in moderation (2-3 glasses a day), beer doesn't lead to weight gain. In fact, regular beer drinkers snack less outside of mealtimes and eat more lightly. They perfectly adapt their nutritional intake by reducing their sugar consumption.

Beer and cardiovascular protection
In the same way as wine, beer provides protection against cardiovascular diseases. According to a number of studies, moderate regular beer consumption can reduce the risk of coronary disease.
