Rich in water and low in calories, refreshing and remineralizing, the peach is an ally to our well-being. When eaten perfectly ripe, it is particularly well tolerated: its fiber is then very tender and promotes intestinal function gently and effectively.
Of all stone fruits, generally low in vitamin C, nectarines are the best source: 20 mg per 100 g. As for the peach, it provides 8 to 10 mg of vitamin C, about 10 to 12% of the recommended daily amount. The skin of the peach contains 2 to 2.5 times more phenolic substances than the pulp, hence the importance of eating a peach whole in order to receive the benefits of its high antioxidant content. As for carotenoids, orange-fleshed varieties of peaches contain about 10 times more ß-Carotene than white-fleshed varieties.
