How to cut up a pineapple
All about pineapple > How to cut up a pineapple?
Presentation 1 - Cut in half
- Cut the pineapple in half lengthwise;
- using a pointed knife, remove the flesh by cutting around it a few centimeters in from the shell;
- remove the flesh, cut out the hard middle core, and slice;
- the hollowed-out shell can be used as a serving dish.
Presentation 2 - whole or in rings
- First cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple so that the fruit will sit flat on your work surface;
- using a sharp knife, cut thick strips from the sides, from top to bottom, to remove all the "eyes";
- serve as is, or sliced in rounds.
Presentation 3 - Malay-style, or for pineapple with large eyes
- Cut the pineapple as indicated in presentation 2, but peel it without being concerned about removing the eyes;
- using a knife, make diagonal cuts from top to bottom along the rows of eyes;
- make a similar cut on the other side of the rows of eyes in order to remove a long pointed strip; you'll be left with a very attractive pattern like a cog wheel.
