Wines from the South-West - Estaing
All about French Wines > Wines from the South-West > Estaing
Very little known because of its tiny size (14 hectares), this historical wine region on the banks of the Lot in the Aveyron received its AOC status in 1965. Its annual production, slightly more than 500 hl, consists essentially of red wines (400 hl) and rosés, made from fer servadou, gamay, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. Estaing also produces a minuscule amount (50 hl) of a magnificent minerally white wine from a blend of chenin, mauzac and rousselou.
