Atlantic Salmon
All about Salmon > General information
Atlantic salmon adores the cold waters of the St. Lawrence. In the ocean, this anadromous species (meaning it swims upriver to spawn) has a silvery belly and sides and a back that is various shades of brown, green and blue. The body is highly speckled.
When captured, the salmon weighs 4.5 kg on average.
Main fishing season: from May to August in coastal and pre-coastal waters while it is returning upstream. It is caught with traps and gill nets.
