French: pigeon
This eternal traveler has been domesticated since prehistoric times. A legendary messenger, the pigeon has changed the course of military campaigns, crossed enemy lines, reunited lovers and served as an intermediary in the most fiendish plots. You would have found it boiled with garlic, leeks and onion on the Mesopotamian table, roasted for the Pharaohs and fattened for the Romans. Its habits and its fidelity to its mate have made it the personification of love and fecundity.
