Description
Grown in Mexico for over 7000 years, these scarlet flowers are very decorative. An annual in temperate regions and perennial in hot, even tropical, climates, this herbaceous plant can reach 4 meters in height. The pink-tinted pods measure 10-40 cm in length and contain 6 to 10 convex, flattened or oblong seeds of varying colors, though always flecked with red.
