Baked Crab Guadeloupe-Style Recipe

Ingredients
- 454 g (1 lb.) crab meat
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) green bell pepper, seeded and finely chopped
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- 60 ml (1/4 cup) dry sherry
- 60 ml (1/4 cup) chopped parsley
- 1/4 tsp. red chili powder
- A pinch of mace
- Salt and pepper
- 1 egg
- Juice of 1 lime
- 2 + 4 tbsp. butter
- 250 ml (1 cup) fresh bread crumbs + 2 tbsp.
Method
- Butter a baking sheet with 1 tbsp. butter;
- in a bowl, crumble the crabmeat and blend in the bread crumbs;
- melt 1 tbsp. butter in a skillet; add the bell pepper and garlic; cook for 5 minutes over medium heat until tender but not browned;
- remove the skillet from the heat; add the sherry and lime juice; mix in the parsley, chili powder, mace, salt and pepper;
- mix everything into the crab-bread crumb mixture and combine well;
- pour the mixture onto the baking sheet; spread out gently with a spatula;
- sprinkle with 2 tbsp. bread crumbs and dot with 4 tbsp. butter;
- bake in a preheated 180° C (350° F) oven for 30 minutes or until browned; serve immediately.
