In 1993 Gualtiero Marchesi, was the first non French chef to obtain three Michelin stars and among the top fifteen chefs in the world according to Gault and Millau, left Milan.
Gualtiero Marchesi was born in Milan in 1930. At early age, he develops a passion for food and cooking, and his first experience will be in the family hotel and restaurant, "Mercato" in Milan. But this is not enough. He decides to improve its cooking and work for some of the top French restaurants, which include "Ledoyen" in Paris, "Le Chapeau Rouge" in Dijon, and the restaurant of the brothers Troigros in Roanne, nearby Lyons. These experiences develop Gualtiero's awareness of new French top cooking techniques.
