Savigny-les-Beaune is a communal appellation in the Côte de Beaune district located between the Hill of Corton and Beaune. Here the wine-producing area is very old. For a long time it belonged to the Dukes of Burgundy, the neighbouring abbeys but also to the Maltese knights. The great castle of the 14th century is a real testament to the legitimate claims of the vintage. The red wines boast a bouquet of small red and black fruits and flowers while whites have a flowery and light hearted nose, a lively attack that makes this a clean, straightforward wine.
Reds are a good match for premium cuts of beef or sweeter-flavoured cheeses such as Brie de Meaux.
Whites suit fresh-water fish in white sauce, eggs, and goat cheeses, providing a rich and unctuous bouquet that delivers a restful finish. A perfect choice for a late weekend brunch.
