Poppyseed
Poppy seeds are often used in Jewish cuisine and thought Europe in many cakes, breads and other bakeries. In North America, they are commonly used in vinaigrette and creamy dressing. In Turkey they are often ground and used in desserts.
Although grown in many countries, Holland is known for producing the highest quality seeds, which are blue. The tiny seeds are also available in black, brown and beige.
Poppy seeds have a nutty flavor when cooked - Brown them quickly in a non-stick pan before using.
