This is my neighbor Micheline's recipe. Her cake evokes tastes of childhood. She uses it both for wedding cakes and for cupcakes. The orange juice doesn't really give an orange flavor - it just adds a delicate flavoring like a spice.
- Beat the butter and sugar together until light and pale.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add half the milk and half the flour; mix well. Add the remaining milk (or orange juice) and the remaining flour. Mix well.
- Bake in a preheated 180° C (350° F) oven for about 20 minutes. Check for doneness with the tip of a knife.
