Barbecue Pork Skewers Recipe

Ingredients
Ingredients for 4-6 servings
- 675 g (1 1/2 lb.) boneless Pork or tenderloin, cut into cubes
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) soy sauce
- 5 tbsp. red wine or rum
- 1 tbsp. brown sugar
- 2 tbsp. honey
- 1 tbsp. natural cherry coloring or cherry powder
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 chopped onion
- 1/2 tsp. five-spice powder
- 2 green peppers, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, cut into pieces
Method
- In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, wine, brown sugar, honey, garlic, finely chopped onion, cherry colouring and five spice powder;
- marinate the cubed pork in the mixture overnight in the refrigerator, turning occasionally;
- place the cubed pork onto bamboo skewers, alternating with pieces of green pepper and onion, allowing 5 cubes of meat per skewer.
Cooking
- Place the skewers onto a preheated grill;
- baste often with the marinade, turning the skewers as necessary throughout cooking;
- serve with rice.
