Frozen Wild Blueberry Pops Recipe
Total time: 15 to 30 minutes
Prep. time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: None
Freezing time: 2 hours minimum
Difficulty: Easy
Chef's Note
(1) August is prime wild blueberry season, but did you know that 95% of the Quebec wild blueberry crop is frozen? This preservation process allows all the berries' freshness and nutrients to be captured within 24 hours of picking. That way, you can enjoy them all year round!
(2) You can also use unfrozen yogurt - it will simply take a bit longer to freeze.
Ingredients
For 6 servings
- 250 ml / 1 cup frozen wild blueberries (1)
- 50 g milk or dark chocolate chips
- 500 ml / 2 cups frozen non-fat or low-fat vanilla yogurt (2)
Material
- Wooden or plastic popsicle sticks
Method
- Thaw the wild blueberries and purée them.
- In a bowl, thoroughly combine the wild blueberry purée, chocolate chips and frozen yogurt.
- Rinse six standard muffin cups with cold water and divide the mixture evenly among the cups.
- Place a stick in the centre of each mold and freeze until firm, at least two hours.
Decorating idea
- Grate a little dark chocolate on the frozen pop just before serving.
