Bloody Fingers with Chicory

Chef's Note

For a Halloween treat that's as tasty as it is terrifying, try these chicory biscuits shaped like bloody fingers. A recipe created by Camille Verheecke, Le Pays des Gourmandises, for Chicorée Leroux. 

Ingredients
For 15 fingers

- 250 g flour
- 25 g whole almonds
- 60 g brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. liquid chicory
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 75 g butter
- 2 Tbsp. water

Decoration
- 15 whole almonds for nails
- red berry coulis
Method
  1. Preheat the oven to 180° C/350° F.
  2. Combine the flour and brown sugar. Add the water, vanilla and liquid chicory.
  3. Melt the butter and add to the mixture.
  4. Mix in the egg and coarsely chopped almonds.
  5. Divide the dough into 15 equal parts. Roll each one into a finger shape.
  6. Place the fingers on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place a whole almond on the end of each finger.
  7. Bake for approximtley 15 minutes. 
  8. Let the fingers cool.

Serve with red fruit coulis for a spooky presentation.
