Bloody Fingers with Chicory Recipe

Chef's Note
For a Halloween treat that's as tasty as it is terrifying, try these chicory biscuits shaped like bloody fingers. A recipe created by Camille Verheecke, Le Pays des Gourmandises, for Chicorée Leroux.
Ingredients
For 15 fingers
- 250 g flour
- 25 g whole almonds
- 60 g brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. liquid chicory
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 75 g butter
- 2 Tbsp. water
Decoration
- 15 whole almonds for nails
- red berry coulis
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180° C/350° F.
- Combine the flour and brown sugar. Add the water, vanilla and liquid chicory.
- Melt the butter and add to the mixture.
- Mix in the egg and coarsely chopped almonds.
- Divide the dough into 15 equal parts. Roll each one into a finger shape.
- Place the fingers on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place a whole almond on the end of each finger.
- Bake for approximtley 15 minutes.
- Let the fingers cool.
Serve with red fruit coulis for a spooky presentation.
