Sesame Cookies Recipe

- 375 ml (1 1/2 cups) pastry flour
- A pinch of salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) sugar
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) butter or shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Sesame seeds
  1. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt;
  2. in a bowl, beat together the butter or shortening, the egg and the vanilla;
  3. add the dry ingredients and mix well to form a smooth dough;
  4. roll the dough into a cylinder about 30 cm long; divide into two parts and cover with waxed paper;
  5. refrigerate for 6 hours; preheat the oven to 350° F;
  6. cut into rounds about 7 mm thick; press each round into a plate full of sesame seeds; place on a greased baking sheet;
  7. bake for 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
