How about some deliciously terrifying burgers for Halloween? They’re practical, hearty, and nutritious — dare to make them!
You’re probably already getting everything ready for Halloween, so if you’ve got the candy, costumes, and decorations sorted, all that’s left is the food! That’s where this super easy and versatile recipe comes in: Monster Burgers. Get ready to surprise your guests!
Did you know?
Hamburgers were actually invented in Germany — not the U.S., as many believe. In fact, the city they come from is called Hamburg!
Step 1
Heat a skillet and add a drizzle of oil.
Cook the patties for about 5 minutes on each side, depending on thickness.
Step 2
When the meat is nearly done, place a slice of cheese on top so it has time to melt — for a spooky touch, cut the cheese into triangles to look like sharp monster teeth (see photo).
Set aside on a plate — ideally in a warming drawer.
Step 3
Spread mayonnaise on the cut side of each bun, then toast them lightly in the same skillet where you cooked the meat. This adds a crispy finish.
Step 4
On a serving plate, lay out 6 bottom buns and spread ketchup on each.
Place a cheesy burger on top.
Add the veggies in this order: lettuce, a slice of tomato, pickled gherkin (let it stick out of the bun to look like a monster tongue), onion rings, and jalapeño slices.
Step 5
Close with the top bun.
Stick one olive on each toothpick and insert two into each burger to create monster eyes. Brrrr!
