Pound Cake and Fresh Fruit Kebabs

Chef's Note

Tip: You can vary these kebabs using all kinds of fruits, and add to the enjoyment by serving them with melted chocolate.

For 4 servings (8 kebabs)

- 1 pure butter pound cake
- 350 g (12 oz.) strawberries
- 4 tart apples

- 8 medium kebab skewers
- 1 heart-shaped cookie cutter
  1. Cut thick slices of pound cake.
  2. Using a cookie cutter or knife, cut each slice into 16 large cubes. Set aside.
  3. Wash the apples and cut 2 fairly thick rounds from the skin side of each of them.
  4. Using the heart-shaped cutter, cut out a heart (skin side up) from each of the apple rounds; set aside.
  5. Rinse 4 hulled strawberries and cut into even quarters.
  6. Assemble 2 kebabs per person, skewering on the various ingredients as desired.
  7. In a saucepan over low heat, cook down the remaining sliced strawberries to a coulis into which the kebabs can be dipped.
