Simple Doughnuts and Flavored Variations
Total time: 1hr to 2hr

Preparation time: 15 minutes
+ 1 hour resting time for the batter
Cooking time: A few minutes

Difficulty: Easy
- 250 g (9 oz.) all-purpose flour
- 3 tbsp. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 50 g (2 oz.) butter
- A pinch of salt
- Granulated or icing sugar
  1. Combine the flour, sugar, eggs and melted butter;
  2. Roll the dough out on a floured work surface and cut into strips or rounds;
  3. let rest at least 1 hour;
  4. drop each piece of dough into hot frying oil;
  5. when golden brown, remove and drain on paper towels; sprinkle with sugar.

Variation in the basic preparation 
Add some crème fraîche or heavy cream

Flavored variations

  • Add the zest of an orange or lemon
  • flavor with 1 or 2 tbsp. or rum or orange flower water.

For fritters

  • Dip pieces of apples, pineapple or banana into the batter, thinned with a little cream;
  • dip acacia flowers;
  • dip strawberries that have macerated for an hour in sugar and kirsch.
