Steak Portuguese-Style

Ingredients for 4 servings
- 4 steaks (Beef), about 180 g / 6 oz. each
- 150 g (5 oz.) butter
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 4 cloves of garlic, peeled
- 50 ml (3 tbsp.) dry red wine
- 50 ml (3 tbsp.) vinegar
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt and pepper
- 1 kg (2 1/4 lb.) potatoes
- 4 slices of bacon
- Flat leaf parsley or cilantro
  1. season the beef with salt and pepper; let rest 10 minutes;
  2. meanwhile, fry the potato slices in butter; season with salt and pepper and set aside; 
  3. heat the butter and oil in a skillet; sauté the garlic for a few seconds; add the bay leaf and cilantro;
  4. add the meat and sear on both sides over high heat; 
  5. transfer to a ceramic dish; cover with the bay leaf and slices of bacon; 
  6. add the wine and vinegar; place into a hot oven and cook for 30-45 minutes; 
  7. remove the bay leaf; 
  8. correct the seasoning. 
  1. place the potatoes all around the steak; garnish with a little parsley or cilantro;
  2. serve immediately.
