Since the 1800s, travellers have made their way to the White Barn Inn. The restaurant's rustic decor, candlelit white linen tables, and beautiful views from its floor to ceiling picture window create the perfect stage for a romantic retreat or special celebration.
Jonathan M. Cartwright, a native of northern England, began cooking when he was 15 years old. Since then, his mastery of the culinary arts has taken him to some of the world's finest Relais & Chateaux properties including Blantyre in Lenox, Massachusetts, the Horned Dorset Primavera in Puerto Rico and the Hotel Bareiss in the Black Forest region of Germany. "I believe that my menu creations are influenced by a love of European-style cooking acquired from my experiences," says Cartwright. "They emphasize nature's offerings from the New England land and sea, my present home." Enjoy its imaginative New England cuisine.
Thanksgiving for me is a special time as it is an historical celebration with such a great meaning.
"I love all the ingredients that were brought to the table for this celebration and how still today they are such key ingredients to us as New Englanders.
"The traditional Americana of a turkey dinner at Thanksgiving seems to suit perfectly the feeling this year especially at The White Barn Inn. The historic ingredients, like tart local cranberries, a fresh bird and the fragrance of well seasoned bread stuffing help us all remember that being in the company of family and friends, giving thanks for the comforts we enjoy and sharing a meal together is a holiday custom that people from any part of the world can embrace and celebrate."
