Caprese Salad (Insalata caprese - mozzarella di buffala with Tomatoes and Basil) Recipe
Chef's Note
If you were to say this isn’t really a recipe, you’d have a point: it’s so simple you don’t even have to know how to cook! Nonetheless, this salad is filled with the flavors of Italy (where, by the way, “bocconcino” means “little bites.”)
Insalata Caprese (salad in the style of Capri) is a simple salad from the Italian region of Campania. This dish is also known as a Tricolore salad due to its three colors, which mimic the Italian flag.
Ingredients
Method
- Drain the mozzarella di buffala ; slice and place them on a platter.
- Slice the tomatoes and arrange between the mozzarella.
- Drizzle with olive oil; sprinkle with basil and add a grinding of fresh pepper. Since the cheese is naturally slightly salty, there’s no need for salt.
