Christmas Star Cookies with Fruits and Nuts
Flavors of France
Total time: 15 to 30 minutes
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Baking time: 15 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
- 200 g (2 cups) flour
- 125 g (1/2 cup) butter, at room temperature
- 90 g (scant 1/2 cup) sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 60 g (2 oz.) powdered almonds or 60 g walnuts (ground in a coffee grinder), or 60 g hazelnut powder
- A pinch of salt
- A few almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, dried apples or pears
  1. Combine the flour, almonds, sugar and a pinch of salt in the bowl of a food processor. Process for 30 seconds.
  2. Add the butter, cut into small pieces. Process briefly to form a sandy-textured dough.
  3. Add the egg yolks and mix again. Work the dough as little as possible so that it is easy to work with and won't shrink during baking.
  4. Form the dough into a ball and refrigerat for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350° F); roll out the dough and cut into star shapes, using a cookie cutter. Place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Decorate the stars with walnut halves, almonds, hazelnuts and small pieces of dried apple or pear. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  7. Bake for about 10 minutes until nicely golden.
Serve with a glass of Christmas beer
