Moques gantoises - Belgian pastries Recipe

- 100 g (1/2 cup) sugar
- 50 g (3 tbsp.) melted butter
- 500 g (18 oz.) flour
- 20 g (2/3 oz.) yeast
- 2 tbsp. milk
- A pinch of baking soda
- Vanilla
- Granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp. anisette or other licorice liquor
  1. Form the flour into a well; in the center add the cornstarch, butter, sugar, milk, yeast, a few drops of vanilla and the baking soda; 
  2. knead into a dough and roll out into cylinders; roll in granulated sugar and let rest for 30 minutes in a cooling place; 
  3. slice and place on a buttered floured baking sheet; 
  4. bake in a preheated 160° C / 325° F) oven for about 15 minutes.
