Apple Compote "from the seraglio" - Elma saray komposto Recipe

Chef's Note
This flavorful apple compote can be made in several variations. Add a cinnamon stick or a few cloves, for example.
- 6 Apples (Boskoop. Golden Delicious)
- 3 tbsp. lemon juice
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) raisins
- 1 tbsp. orange marmalade
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) sugar
- 8 Clou de girofles (optional)
- 500 ml (2 cups) water
  1. Peel and core the apples; cut into large pieces.
  2. Place in a large saucepan; add the lemon juice, water and sugar; cook over low heat until tender. 
  3. Mix in the raisins and orange marmalade and simmer 10 minutes longer. Cool before serving.
